FACEBOOK/SOCIAL MEDIA

Using Facebook and other social media on your mobile phone is a great way to stay connected while you are on the go, away from your usual computer.

Accessing Facebook from Your Mobile Phone

There are two ways to access Facebook from a mobile device. If the mobile device has a web browser, you can visit Facebook.com in the web browser on the phone. The version of Facebook you see will be the “mobile” version, so it may be different from what you’re used to but has the same basic features and functionality as the website.

If your mobile device supports applications, you can also download an application to access Facebook.

Updating Your Status from Your Mobile Phone

If accessing Facebook through a web browser, the first page you see will have a “What’s on your mind?” label above a text box. Simply type your status update here, and click the “Share” button.

If you are using a downloadable application to access Facebook, the interface will vary from application to application. In general, there will be a section of the application (usually the default home screen) that displays your news feed, with an empty box for you to enter a status update above your friends' posts.

Accessing Other Social Media from Your Mobile Phone

Many other social media websites, such as Twitter and Flickr, can also be used on your mobile phone. As with Facebook, these sites can be accessed from your phone’s web browser or installed as applications if your device supports applications.

Try searching the Android Market or BlackBerry AppWorld for your favorite social networking site and see what applications are available to download.
